Bungee Jumping

Bungee jumping is diving off a fixed point while connected to an elastic cord, lets leapers experience a free fall of anywhere from 100 feet to 600 feet. The fall only lasts a few seconds, but the release of endorphins—the type that are produced when, say, you hurtle toward the bottom of a canyon—produce a natural high. Injuries are uncommon, but the memories last forever. The quality of equipment has improved over the years to the point where bungee jumping is very safe.

While there are many locations in and around Southern Utah that are bungee jumping capable, there are very few professional operations that offer their services to the public. A company by the name of Bungee Expeditions is going to be your best bet if you’re looking to take a plunge any time soon. Bungee Expeditions has four jump locations within three hours away.  I personally jumped off the Navajo bridge with my dad and my brother.  It was just as much fun and maybe more exhilarating than skydiving.  It also costs less for multiple jumps.

Here is a video from jumping with my family.

Navajo Bridge - Marble Canyon, Arizona. 467ft/141.5m Located near the North rim of the Grand Canyon over the Colorado River. Located just 3 hours from St George.

White CanyonLake Powell, Southern Utah, definitely one of the scariest bridges to jump. This one is 260ft/79m deep and only 30ft/9m wide at the bottom.  It is about 2.5 hours from St. George.

Hite Marina Bridge - Lake Powell, Southern Utah. This one is 120ft/36m over the Colorado River where it feeds into Lake Powell. It is about 2.5 hours from St George.
Dirty Devil - Lake Powell, Southern Utah.  230ft/70m.  There is great camping and amazing scenery right at Hite marina.

Your other option for professional bungee jumping would be Las Vegas. There are actually quite a few companies that offer bungee jumping in Las Vegas, but the one that sticks out is just a little different.

It’s not exactly a bungee jump because you aren’t strapped at your feet. Instead, you’re in a body harness with the chord hooked to your back. What’s the big catch you may wonder? Well, this jump, Sky Jump to be exact, is located 855 feet up the Stratosphere Casino.

Providing the highest controlled free fall in the world, Sky Jump is definitely one of a kind. Maybe if you’re lucky, your screams will be heard down on the Las Vegas Strip.
Before you actually jump, you get prepped and given a safety lesson. After a surprisingly short elevator trip to the top of the tower, the jumper descends to the edge of the platform. All that’s left is to take that last step and plummet through the sky 855 feet, or the equivalent of 108 floors. So if you’re aching for a rush and you’re brave enough, sign the waiver, step to the edge, and take that leap of faith.
