Canyoneering

The sandstone walls and canyons of southern Utah are internationally famous destinations for rock climbing and canyoneering. Although guide services are not allowed to operate within the boundaries of Zion National Park, they are able to teach climbing and canyoneering skills and provide needed equipment.

There are a number of excellent walls and technical slots outside the park, and guides take clients through many of them. Some of the most popular canyoneering destinations in Southern Utah include Kolob Canyon, Fat Man’s Misery and Subway in Zion; Choprock and Phipps Canyons in Escalante, and the San Rafael Swell.
